Asset Logistics Engineering

Asset Logistics Engineering is the field of expertise in which disciplines such as Systems Engineering, Design to Maintain and Logistics Support Analysis are applied. To use this in a structured manner, the ‘system analysis’ approach has been developed for AMC. This is a structured approach for gaining qualitative insight during the (planned) life cycle. For this, the asset (system) and the logistics process are represented as an integrated logistics process cycle (LPC). To specify the Asset Logistics Engineering information, both qualitatively and quantitatively, an analysis is made for different life cycle phases. Experience has shown that this approach prevents people from having to start with a set of unstructured specifications and documents (free of charge) obtained from the project realization phase at the start of the operating phase. The analysis according to the LPC implies continuous monitoring in which all actors are involved. When the life cycle of an asset (system) is set, from concept to phase-out, the LPC is run in two ways.

Integrated Logistics Support versus Asset Logistics Engineering

Within the military defense sector, the Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) method is used for Asset Logistics Engineering.

From 1950 onwards, people started to think in a structured way about utilizing the required military capacity at minimal costs.

The primary objective of ILS is therefore to make the Life Cycle Costs (LCC) of the military defense equipment manageable, while meeting the requirements set for the equipment throughout the entire lifespan. The requirements for defense equipment include requirements with regard to the required availability and reliability. By applying ILS, the logistical support of the equipment (maintenance, replenishment, training, procedures, etc.) is approached and attuned to this in a structured way for the entire lifespan.

Tools

ILSA has been developed to implement Integrated Logistics Engineering in a professional manner.

ILSA

ILSA Stands for Integrated Logistics Support Application. Integrated Logistics Support is the NATO approach for Asset Logistics Engineering of capital goods. For example, a maintenance preparation manager is appointed for new navy equipment to ensure that Asset Logistics Engineering products such as; specifications, diagrams, drawings and procedures, not only make constructions possible, but also the subsequent maintenance and that during the entire life cycle of the equipment.

Training

To properly implement and use asset management standards, methods, techniques and tools, professionals with the right competencies are needed.

To achieve this, AMC T&T has developed a balanced training program that seamlessly meets the needs. By making use of a digital learning environment containing the complete set of instruments, the required knowledge and skills are taught effectively.

Asset Logistics Engineering

Asset Logistics Engineering contains disciplines such as; specify, test, maintain, analyze and modify. For the military defense sector, we have developed a so-called Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) approach.

Support

Support usually consists of advice, IT Engineering and support with implementations.

With this, a specific customer need is filled in and often tailor-made solutions are provided following a generic asset management implementation in accordance with ISO 55000.

Advies

For example, how to minimize risks by going through a structured Asset Logistics Engineering process.

IT Engineering

IT Engineering support can consist of:
• expanding or adapting the user interface
• setting up or redesigning the data warehouse
• linking other applications / databases to one or more AMC Tool (s).

Implementatie

Support with implementation can consist of:
• support with the (initial) realization of ILS products, such as; source data, specifications and procedures
• performing specific activities, whether or not on a project basis.
